Hand sewing is a really good way to develop strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. It gives you complete control over where and how you place your stitches, making it ideal for smaller projects, repairs, and decoration. You only need a needle, thread, fabric, and scissors, so you can sew on the go.
In this class, students will learn the basics of hand sewing to make a variety of fun small projects such as stuffed animals, bookmarks, ornaments, and drawstring bags.
Skills learned:
- Sewing techniques for different styles of buttons
- Hemming and seaming
- Stitches for mending
- Stitches for decorating
