Performing Arts Society of Redding presents “Trio Bonbons with Chocolate Cello Centers”

When a cello phenomenon like JJ Tiefenbach is nurtured in Redding, we fellow musicians are eager to play with her!  Since she is a high school senior, we might not have this luxury next year.  Trio Bonbons is based on 3 sections:  piano trios with Sheri Curtis rendering Piazzolla, ranging from sultry Oblivion to joyous freedom in Libertango. Further: O Danny Boy satisfyingly arranged for piano trio; our favorite piano trios by Borodin and Mendelssohn. The second segment features JJ and Alda Turgieva playing cello/piano pieces.  Thirdly: string trios with violinist Kiara Schuette in Gwyneth Walker’s spectacular settings of spirituals, Bach’s Goldberg Variations, ending with Dohnanyi’s famous Trio that all string trios aspire to play for its five varied movements.
